Naprapathy at Sol Wellness
We offer Naprapathic treatments that last longer than most places. A treatment lasts at least 30 minutes and can last up to 60+ minutes in length because we like to take the extra time to really understand each individual’s needs. If nutrition counseling is necessary or requested additional time and appointments may be required. Suggested attire includes stretchy shorts and a tank top.
What is Naprapathy?
A method of treating disease that employs no medications but uses manipulation of connective tissue (fascia) and adjoining structures (ligaments, joints, muscles, etc.) and dietary measures to facilitate the natural recuperative and regenerative processes of the body.
History of Naprapathy?
Naprapathy is a complimentary alternative medicine (CAM) that focuses on the treatment of Neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. In the early 1900s a chiropractor and osteopathic student named Dr. Oakley Smith developed the discipline and coined the name “Naprapathy”. The name was inspired by the traditional manual healing practice of Czechoslovakia called “napravit”. The literal translation of the original term napravit is “to rectify”. The Czech people performed napravit using gentle manipulations to loosen and relax constricted joints.
Why Choose Naprapathy?
The goal of naprapathic treatments is to correct postural dysfunctions, decrease pain without the use of pharmaceuticals, re-educate the muscles on appropriate firing patterns, and loosen adhesions or tight musculature. Patient education is provided linking exercise and nutrition to prevent future injuries and pain syndromes. Medical massage, heat/cold therapy, gentle stretches, soft tissue and joint manipulations, trigger point therapy, and other modalities are used to achieve this goal. It is ideal for those seeking treatment more structural than massage and less intense than a chiropractic adjustment.
Who Would Benefit From Naprapathy?
Our environment has unfortunately become one that focuses on convenience and productivity and as a result many people sit for long hours working at desks or driving from place to place. This causes an imbalance and dysfunction in muscular use patterns, postural dysfunction, tension, headaches, stress, and muscular pain. We commonly treat busy people who work long hours sitting at desks or who are on their feet for long periods of time. We help them reduce their pain and find the time for proper nutrition and self care. Sedentary people who are unsure of the first steps to becoming active again also greatly benefit from our treatments since they gain the mobility needed to get moving again through our treatments. We assist in the healing of people who have suffered from motor vehicle injuries, worker’s comp injuries, and pre- and post- surgical cases. We also treat highly active people such as marathon runners, weight lifters, or other athletes who suffer from sports injuries or muscular imbalances from muscle overuse. Naprapathy is appropriate for the majority of the population because many people fall into one of these categories and it is ideal for those seeking a conservative means to feeling better before considering pharmaceuticals and surgical interventions.
